Privacy notice
Quest Academy is a learning game for children in grades 2 and 3. Parents sign in; children never create accounts. Last updated: October 2026.
Who runs this
Quest Academy is run by [YOUR NAME], who you can reach at [YOUR EMAIL] with any question or request about your family's data.
What we collect
- About you (the parent): your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. We use these only to sign you in.
- About each child you add: the first name or nickname you type and their grade. If you choose to share them (you can skip this), the name of their school and its town and state, used to match lessons to what the school teaches. You can type a ZIP code to fill in the state: it is looked up in a table inside the app (never online, and never from your internet address) and is not saved. Never a birthday, photo or street address.
- Learning progress: which questions your child answered, whether they were right, how long they took, and their skill levels, game rewards and settings.
- Writing, only if you turn on AI writing feedback for a child: the pieces they write and the feedback.
- AI conversations, only if you turn them on for a child: what your child said (as text) and the replies, kept for you to read.
What we never do
- No advertising, tracking, analytics or third-party scripts.
- We never sell your family's data, never share it except with friends you approve (see Friends below), and never use it for anything except running the game for you.
- Children cannot chat or type messages to anyone. With friends you approve, they can only pick from a few preset messages.
Where it is stored
Progress is kept on your device so the game works offline, and saved to our database (hosted by Supabase) so it follows your child between devices. Only you, signed in, and any other grown-ups you invite to your family can see your children's data; the one exception is what approved friends see, below. Data is sent over encrypted connections.
Other grown-ups in your family (optional)
You can invite another parent or carer: you make a one-time code (it works for 3 days) and give it to them; they sign in with their own account and type it. They then see and manage the same children as you. The grown-ups in a family see each other's sign-in email, so everyone knows who has access. The grown-up who made the family can remove anyone, and anyone can leave. Up to 4 grown-ups per family. If the grown-up who made the family deletes their account, the children's data is deleted too.
Friends (optional, only with friends both grown-ups approve)
Children can play with friends in Home Base, the town-building game, only after both families agree: you make a one-time code for your child and give it to the other child's grown-up, they enter it, and you approve. Until then, nothing about your child is visible to them.
- An approved friend sees your child's first name or nickname and a picture of their Home Base town (its age and buildings). Never their grade, school, learning progress or anything else.
- Friends can send each other presents of game resources, help each other build and trade, with a preset message. There is no free text, and children cannot write to each other.
- You can remove a friend at any time in Family settings. Deleting a child or your account removes their friendships, town picture and presents too.
AI feedback (optional, off unless you turn it on)
If you turn on AI writing feedback for a child, each piece of writing is sent to Claude, an AI service from Anthropic, to get one compliment and one next step. We remove email addresses, phone numbers and street addresses first, and we never send your child's name or any account ID. The same writing is also checked by Claude for whether it looks mostly AI-written or copied (the writing alone; nothing is searched on the web), and you decide whether your child is asked to write it again in their own words. You read and approve every response before your child sees it. Each child can request up to 5 a day. By default, Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models.
If you turn on AI conversations for a child (a separate switch, also off by default), the guide can answer when your child says something off the lesson, and history characters can talk back. Speech is turned into text on your device first; only that text (with personal details removed), the lesson or character and a few earlier lines are sent to Claude, never audio, a name or an account ID. Up to 30 questions a day. Replies are shown straight away, so you can read every conversation in the Parent dashboard, with anything worrying marked for you.
Your choices and rights
- See it: the Parent dashboard shows everything recorded for each child, and you can download a full copy (Settings & data → backup).
- Change it: rename a child or turn AI feedback on or off at any time in Family settings.
- Delete it: deleting a child (or your whole account) in Family settings removes their profile and progress from our database right away. Copies on your own devices go when you clear the site's data in your browser.
- Stop collection: you can stop any time by deleting the child or the account. We will not collect more information than the game needs.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
We collect information about a child only after their parent or guardian signs in and agrees when adding them. If you believe a child's information was added without a parent's consent, contact us and we will delete it.
